It’s a question often asked by webmasters and it’s one of the known causes of rankings not being as good as they should be.

Pages of your site not being indexed or crawled often can have a significant impact on the amount of traffic your site generates, especially from long-tail keywords.

If Google’s not indexing your content or crawling it very often, then all we really need to do, is give Google a nudge in the right direction.

In PHP RSS Reader, we’ve built sitemap functionality directly into the script.

If you’re a premium customer, you can find your sitemap simply by appending ‘sitemap.xml’ to the end of your script root url, for example: http://www.phprssreader.com/blog/sitemap.xml

Once your site is up and running, you should submit this sitemap to to Google Webmaster Tools.

Your site will get an increased indexation and crawled a lot more often if you submit your sitemap to webmaster tools.

Also.. each category of the site, including the homepage, has an individual RSS feed. Each of these RSS can also act as a sitemap and should also be submitted to webmaster tools to ensure Google knows every time a new article goes live.

So, if you’re interested in getting a PHP RSS Reader for your website and increasing your sites indexation and ultimately traffic, then why not try the basic free version by clicking here, or if you’re ready, try the risk-free full version, by clicking here.

Increasing the page rank or page authority of your site is of great importance.

As a webmaster, it’s your job to ensure your site generates traffic from search engines and a large part of the traffic you’ll receive comes down to how authoritative your site is perceived to be and that perception comes mainly from backlinks.

PHP RSS Reader is in fact a great tool to help you increase the backlinks pointing to your site from credible sources.

TIP 1 – Ask news publishers for a link in exchange for their news to appear on your site

This is one of the most simplest but most powerful ways of using PHP RSS Reader to increase your sites authority within the search engines.

It’s simple, once your site is setup and established properly, start asking relevant news publishers if they’d like their news to start appearing on your site. Explain to the publisher the benefits of being listed on your site:

They’ll get extra traffic to each of their articles

They’ll get extra links to their articles

In return, you just ask for a link on their homepage, something a long the lines of “As seen on… (your site’s name)”.

A site that already carries out a strategy similar to this is NewsNow.

News publishers which are not greatly authoritative themselves, have to put an “as seen on NewsNow” badge on their site to be considered for listing.

TIP 2 – Submit your generated RSS feeds to RSS directories

PHP RSS Reader automatically creates RSS feeds for each category. You can utilize these RSS feeds by submitting them to RSS feed directories.

RSS feed directories will crawl each new article submitted to your site, generating an internal link deep in your site to each page.

Some example RSS directories are given below:

http://www.rsstop10.com/directory/

http://www.badrss.com/

http://rssbin.com/

If you’re interested in getting a PHP RSS Reader for your website and increasing your sites authority, then why not try the free version by clicking here, or even purchase the full version, by clicking here.

A content management system is supposed to be a simplistic way to organise and manipulate your content. There are a ton of content management systems available on the web today so it’s really tough to make a choice over which one to pick.

The first question you’ve really got to ask yourself is… What do I want my site to do?

Are you going to run a blog? Do you want a complete site where you’re going to have to manage many different sections which all have different functions, requiring different page styles? Or are you looking for something simple that users can use just to get the content they’re really looking for?

PHP RSS Reader is a way to provide your users with the content they really want.

We often hear the question ‘Why should we just syndicate other people’s content onto our website? What’s the benefit of that? Isn’t that against everything that a search engine really wants? Are there not duplicate content issues?

Well – let’s really take a close look at this question as it’s something that comes up on a regular basis. News aggregation is nothing new. But a PHP news aggregation script such as PHP RSS Reader is really quite unique at this moment in time.

Lets look on the wider scale of things at other news aggregation sites on the web…

We’ve got Digg, NewsNow, Google News and the core of Google, it’s whole search interface, the content isn’t really unique. What we’re all really offering here is a way to organise the mass amount of content that’s actually out there on the web today.

Syndicating content using a PHP script is simple, there are a lot of basic scripts that allow you to syndicate content from RSS feeds, but what we’re really interested in here at PHP RSS Reader is how we organise that news so the reader can work through all the clutter to get the news they want.

This is exactly why we added the ‘My Feeds’ section of the script.

You will notice in the siderbar, after you’ve registered for a free account on the demo version, that you will be able to create your own feeds. You basically specify a number of keywords that you would like to use to break down the content you would like to see.

What we’re really doing here is aggregating that content from RSS feeds and then picking those articles from the database based on those keywords. We’ve also taken this a step further and started to show ‘clusters’ of news articles underneath each headline.

This is an easy way to provide users with more related content to keep them engaged, to ensure they spend a longer amount of time on the site and explore more of the syndicated content.

The beauty of installing a php news script such as PHP RSS Reader on your server is the new content comes in automatically. You can provide your users with relevant content without having to produce it all yourself, it doesn’t get much better than that!

As a business, we’re often tasked by different clients to find ways we could integrate PHP RSS Reader into their strategy.

One of our biggest private clients whose in the business of real estate, wanted to increase traffic to their real estate site and wondered how we here at PHP RSS Reader could help.

Our solution was to provide a news aggregation website for the area surrounding the realtor’s interests. For confidentiality reasons, we won’t be disclosing the clients area of business, so for example purposes, we’re going to use Arizona.

The client registered a relevant local area domain name, for example: http://www.latestarizonanews.com/ (which is currently an untapped opportunity waiting for someone to exploit).

Because of the keyword relevancy of the domain, search engine rankings were both easier to achieve and the traffic coming through from searches alone with no advertising were very impressive.

Since that time the site has become well known within the area and is used repeatedly by people living in the area.

How did the client benefit?

The client was able to advertise properties on the site to a large number of visitors that lived in the local area. People who continuously used the site to find out local news and so were also interested in local properties.

An unexpected knock-on effect from this was that it wasn’t just the users of the site that became aware of the property’s being listed, but their was a ‘word of mouth’ effect. Because of this extra exposure to the target market, sales for the client have rapidly increased.

Does your local area have a news aggregation website setup?

If not, then you could be missing out on a valuable opportunity, read more about PHP RSS Reader on the website, click here.

A question often asked is… is news aggregation ‘stealing’ content?

This couldn’t be any further from the truth…

RSS aggregation gives value to news publishers, not take it away.

PHP RSS Reader was created with news publishers in mind and thus tries to give value back in areas that are most important.

For example – PHP RSS Reader only provides a ‘snippet’ of text from the actual content of each article provided through an RSS feed…

The reason being – aggregators need to be able to provide enough content to users to give them a preview that the article is going to be of interest to them, before clicking through to read the whole content.

A news aggregator is really a hub of information, collated into one place, making it easy for users to view the news they want under one roof.

The aim isn’t to ‘steal’ content – the aim is to bring content to one place so all opinions on different topics can be considered, giving a greater variety of publishers a chance to get their articles seen.

This benefits news publishers because they receive more exposure and this benefits you, the news aggregator, because users love having all their relevant news in one place.

Some people often ask, how can you create a successful site that is based upon other people’s content?

The answer to that question, is quite simple. Aggregation sites bring a huge variety of content to one, single place. Why check 50 sites for the latest news on a topic when you can have it all under one roof?

A perfect example of news aggregation in action is NewsNow: http://www.newsnow.co.uk

PHP RSS Reader allows you to create a site that is essentially just like NewsNow. Whilst NewsNow aggregate news on all topics, trying to cater for all topics under one roof, the site has become wildly successful and continues to be one of the most popular news websites in the UK.

The success of NewsNow really does show the powerful impact of news aggregation, Google News is also a news aggregation website.

However, there’s a massive opportunity that hasn’t been filled to create news aggregation websites that target a specific niche. Imagine a news aggregation website dedicated to your favorite topic.

Here are just a few example of opportunities for news aggregation websites that still haven’t been tapped:

Sports updates (soccer, football, basketball, golf, baseball, hockey, rugby etc)

Celebrity gossip

Gaming (ps3, xbox, wii etc)

Local news (your local area)

Political News

Business News

Technology (mobiles, computing, gadgets etc)

As you can see, the opportunities are endless, is there an untapped market you could create a news aggregation website for?

If so, find out more about PHP RSS Reader through the site, click here.
